Dr Sharma completed medical training followed by specialist paediatric and paediatric gastroenterology training, achieving a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (PGHAN).

He has developed advanced expertise in therapeutic paediatric endoscopy and gastrointestinal physiology, working within a tertiary paediatric centre managing complex and refractory gastrointestinal conditions. His clinical practice combines advanced diagnostic assessment with interventional endoscopic care for children with complex gastrointestinal disease.

Dr Sharma has an established research and clinical innovation focus within paediatric endoscopy, including: Novel and advanced endoscopic therapies Stretta radiofrequency therapy for paediatric gastro-oesophageal reflux disease Use of Over-The-Scope Clips (OTSC) for management of gastrointestinal bleeding, defects, and fistulae in children Development and evaluation of minimally invasive therapeutic endoscopic techniques His academic interests centre on improving outcomes and safety for children requiring advanced endoscopic intervention.
