Mr Desai qualified in medicine (MBChB) in 1986 from Grant Medical College, Mumbai, India and completed orthopaedic training at Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals. He continued advanced training in the UK, including a specialist knee fellowship at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Bristol. He was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at King’s Mill Hospital in 2000, where he has since managed complex hip and knee conditions within multidisciplinary services.

Mr Desai is actively involved in orthopaedic research. He participates in multicentre clinical trials, including the TOPKAT trial (Total or Partial Knee Arthroplasty) and ACL outcome studies. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications on orthopaedic topics and contributes to the scientific literature.

Mr Desai is active in the professional orthopaedic community, holding roles and affiliations including: Examiner for medical students and FRCS orthopaedic examinations Royal College of Surgeons representative on consultant appointment advisory committees Instructor for Acute Trauma Life Support courses He has served in clinical governance and service leadership roles within orthopaedic departments.
