Gynaecology

Gynaecologists are concerned with the functioning of the female genital tract in health and disease.

Female problems tend to change with age. Younger women often have problems with irregular or heavy periods, need contraception or may require the HPV vaccine. Women of childbearing age may have problems with infertility and older women may suffer from heavy periods, prolapse and incontinence.

Gynaecologists also deal with Cancer and pre cancerous disease of the reproductive organs including the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix and vagina.

The main tools of diagnosis are a thorough examination, blood tests and ultrasound. Sterilisation and reversal of sterilisation are also offered by gynaecologists
