Dr Bassi treats axillary hyperhidrosis with VASER® ultrasonic technology. This is a straightforward and effective procedure with successful results.

What is Axillary Hyperhidrosis?

Axillary hyperhidrosis describes excessive underarm sweating, an embarrassing and annoying condition that affects both men and women. It can occur at any age and is a relatively common condition, affecting millions of people worldwide.

Often, people with axillary hyperhidrosis notice too much perspiration even in cooler weather or when they are resting. The condition can have an impact on how you dress and your lifestyle. For example, you may need to change your clothes several times a day or you may feel self-conscious at work or social events.

Sometimes, axillary hyperhidrosis is caused by an underlying medical condition, such as diabetes or a thyroid disorder, so it is a good idea to consult your doctor to rule out medical causes before considering VASER® treatment.

What are the advantages of VASER® treatment for axillary hyperhidrosis?

  • It is a straightforward, minimally invasive procedure.
  • The ultrasonic technology targets the specific area of the problem.
  • It eliminates most sweat glands.
  • The healing process is rapid.
  • Sweating is within the normal range after the treatment.

What is the procedure?

Dr Bassi and his team fill the underarm area with a special saline solution called tumescence fluid. This helps to numb the site and shrink the blood vessels, so that bruising and bleeding are minimised.

Dr Bassi and his team then use a special technique that targets the sweat glands but leaves the surrounding tissues intact. The VASER® probe, which emits ultrasonic energy, breaks up fatty tissue and the sweat glands. These are removed through a gentle suction process.

Since there are millions of sweat glands under the arms, it is impossible to remove them all. However, most of the sweat glands are removed, so that sweating is reduced significantly.

How do you feel after the treatment?

After the procedure, many patients feel no pain at all. Some patients experience pain for about three days, so they may require paracetamol or prescription pain relief medicine.

Some patients have lumpiness. This only lasts for a few weeks and disappears by itself.

What are the results of the treatment?

The treatment causes the amount of sweating to be within normal levels, rather than excessive. After undergoing the treatment, you’ll no longer feel embarrassed about sweating and you’ll feel much more comfortable and confident in public.

Does VASER® treatment also help reduce odour?

Many patients also notice a significant reduction in body odour problems after treatment.
